Hi Col,

It is been a while since our last chat. Nevertheless I have a glance at your blog once in a while. It always gives me new insights on whether I am still on track on what I am doing - or not.

After a talk this afternoon with a dear friend on the projects that I am initiating I wonder what is missing to make the connection to as Geoff has said in the previous comment, "It gets murkier when you have people wanting to control their little corner of power, and are afraid of losing that".

Trying to initiate the change in a small town in eastern Germany as they will be losing most of the industrial workplaces by end of next year (http://www.genthin.blogspot.com). Yet the people in the region are bound to their own history, holding on the old (the company that gave the rock solid security).

Coming back from Oman and being part of the Penguin Experience at Team Academy in Finland, I sense that they have a chance to create a trustworthy and self-determined future for themselvens.
I have seen in the past what people are capable of doing as soon as they realize (partly true for myself) what creative potential they (and sometimes ever use it to a large part;-(().

I have tried some connections and yet have the strong feeling that I haven't the emotional connection and trust (especially as an outsider, living three-hours away, coming from the other part of Germany) that could lead to the possible and achievable future.

I ask myself again and again, how to get the opportunity to build on trust in order to make the journey really happen?

Best regards from up north, where autumn is slowly kicking in

It's interesting to see that often the story works as a hindrance to innovation: "this is the way we do X" can quickly become "we can't do X any other way". It gets murkier when you have people wanting to control their little corner of power, and are afraid of losing that
